Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park – The world’s second largest military park, this site contains four Civil War battlefields, walking trails and historic statues. Notable spots include Fredericksburg National Cemetery and Salem Church, which was used as a hospital. Guests can reach the park in about 15 minutes.
Old Town Fredericksburg – Located about five miles from the hotel, this walkable 40-block district is home to charming historic buildings and many antique shops. Stop by the Visitor’s Center for maps and information, and grab a meal at one of the restaurants and bars.
Kenmore Plantation – History buffs won’t want to miss traveling just over four miles to visit this Georgian-style mansion owned by George Washington’s sister, Betty Washington Lewis, and her husband. If you plan to visit both Kenmore and Ferry Farm–George Washington’s birthplace–you can save money by purchasing a combination ticket to both sites.
